Notes to you: Weird winter

Comments

Well, we don't have an HD TV, so I'm happy with the old stuff. We have a big screen TV. but it's about 10 years old, before the flat screens and HD came out. It works perfectly fine, so I'm happy.

The weather has been strange here too Peter. It was cold and rainy for two days and today it was sunny and warm. Go figure!
I don't have HD I don't watch enough TV to care. But, in the UK they're switching off the analogue signal over the next couple of years so everyone will have to have a digital compatible TV at the very least. I do have that much so won't need a new one!
Chandra: Same thing in the States. All the analog TV stations will be shut off permanently in February 2009. If you get your signal over the air, you will need a digital TV by then or else a converter box. (The feds promise coupons that would cover $40 of the cost.)

However, if you get your signal from cable or satellite, your old analog TV will still work. You would need a converter box to get digital signals, but many of the smaller cable systems (like ours) don't have a digital tier yet--they convert the signals to analog. So they still should be OK for a while.

Our main TV (in the living room) is analog and about 15 years old; I think it's due for an upgrade. The little one I have upstairs (next to the computer) is digital, and its picture is a lot sharper.
